Volvo Car Canada Introduces XC60 Black Edition to its 2024 Lineup

Volvo Car Canada is expanding its range of offerings with the 2024 XC60 Black Edition, an intriguing styling variant of its top-tier Ultimate model. This addition to the lineup is the latest chapter in the XC60's history, which spans over 15 years. The SUV was awarded the 2018 World Car of the Year and has enjoyed significant popularity due to its refined Scandinavian design. The Black Edition theme was last seen on Volvo’s award-winning S60 Sedan.
Exterior and Interior Details
The exterior of the XC60 Black Edition is drenched in Onyx Black, complimented by exclusive high-gloss black elements like a black iron mark logo, Volvo spread word mark, and 21-inch 5-Double Spoke High Gloss Black Alloy wheels. The styling aims to strike a balance between sportiness and sophistication.
The interior is no less exquisite. It features a charcoal-coloured cabin adorned with a black headliner. Buyers will have two choices for seat upholstery—either Charcoal Ventilated Nappa Leather or a blend of Nappa Leather, Leatherette, and Textile Sport Seats. These options are intended to give the SUV's interior a dynamic and cockpit-like ambiance. Adding to the premium feel are contrasting metal mesh aluminum decor, a crystal gear shift knob, and a 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display equipped with built-in Google services.
Electrified Powertrains
Consistent with Volvo’s commitment to sustainability, the XC60 Black Edition will be available in two electrified variants. The XC60 Recharge Black Edition T8 incorporates a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 312 hp four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 143 hp electric motor. This model also features an 18.8 kWh high-voltage battery, allowing up to 58 km of electric-only driving in Pure mode.
On the other hand, the XC60 B5 AWD Black Edition utilizes mild hybrid technology. It pairs a traditional internal combustion engine with an electric integrated starter generator. This approach aims to minimize CO2 emissions and improve fuel economy without requiring plug-in charging.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing starts at $68,950 for the XC60 B5 AWD Ultimate Black Edition and $83,950 for the XC60 T8 Recharge Ultimate Black Edition, excluding destination charges. Orders for the new model will open soon, with deliveries expected to start in early 2024.
