Sustainability Meets Luxury: The New All-Electric Volvo EX90 SUV

Sustainable design has achieved a new standard with the introduction of the all-electric Volvo EX90 SUV. Promising a tactile and memorable user experience, the model integrates high-quality materials sourced from natural, recycled, and renewable resources, epitomizing Volvo's ethos and Scandinavian heritage.
Lisa Reeves, head of interior design at Volvo Cars, and her team have endeavored to redefine luxury with their meticulous attention to detail. This means moving beyond conventional fabric and excess and embracing materials that promote circularity, like the innovative Nordico upholstery.
Designed from recycled PET bottles and bio-attributed polymer from Swedish and Finnish forests, the Nordico material lends a premium feel to the interior while setting a new benchmark for sustainable automotive design. The upholstery's intricate texture of ridges and valleys is a testament to the designers' skill and commitment to delivering a tactile, engaging experience.
The EX90 also features an alternative upholstery option, the Nativa-certified wool blend. This material has been accredited according to stringent sustainability norms, covering environmental, social, and animal welfare aspects, and has received the Woolmark Company's Performance Certification.
Complementing these premium textiles, FSC-certified wood panels and carpets comprised partially of regenerated polyamide grace the cabin, contributing to the almost 50 kilograms of recycled plastics and bio-based materials used in the Volvo EX90. This achievement marks the highest use of non-primary fossil-based materials in Volvo's car line-up.
Additionally, Volvo is offering the freedom to personalize the EX90's interior with a selection of seven different “rooms”. Each of these offers a unique ambiance inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle and its strong ties to nature, accentuated by the color, upholstery, and material finish choices.
Further enhancing the interior's aesthetic, SunLike LEDs illuminate the cabin, mimicking natural sunlight for a truer color expression. This innovative lighting design makes the wood deco and progressive materials of the Volvo EX90 even more noticeable.
The Volvo EX90 merges sustainability and luxury seamlessly, showcasing the remarkable potential of mindful design. The incorporation of recycled and sustainable materials, while prioritizing the quality of user experience, heralds a new era in the automotive industry, where ecological consciousness and high-end luxury are no longer mutually exclusive.
