A Look at the Impressive Volvo XC40
December 20 2022,
The Volvo XC40 is the smallest and most affordable model in the Volvo lineup, but this doesn’t mean that it is any less impressive than the larger models. Here is a quick look at this premium compact SUV.
Small on the outside, big on the inside
The Volvo XC40 is a very practical vehicle because of its enviable combination of small exterior dimensions and generous interior space. This is made possible by the boxy design of the XC40 that allows a more upright driving position and an increased amount of headroom for all passengers. In addition, the XC40 benefits from 453 litres of cargo space behind the rear seat and up to 1,328 litres when only two people are on board. This means that four adults can be comfortably seated even on longer trips while a fair amount of luggage is easily placed in the cargo compartment.
As safe as larger Volvo models
Despite its smaller size and its lower price, the XC40 does not fall short of other Volvo models in terms of safety. Indeed, every Volvo vehicle, including the XC40, has been named Top Safety Pick + by the IIHS for many years now. In addition to its solid structure and carefully engineered crumple zones, the XC40 also relies on advanced active safety features to help its drivers avoid accidents. The forward collision warning system with pedestrian, cyclist, and large animal detection is standard, and so are the lane-keeping assist and the rear-cross traffic alert.
The new Google built-in infotainment system
Just like every other 2023 Volvo model, the XC40 comes standard with the new Google built-in infotainment system that features technologies such as the Google Assistant that can be used to control a number of the vehicle’s functions as well as compatible Google Home devices via voice commands alone.
Two hybrid powertrains to choose from
The 2023 Volvo XC40 joins other models in the lineup in offering exclusively electrified powertrains. The standard engine is the B4 mild-hybrid turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that delivers 197 horsepower to all four wheels. Also available is the B5 mild-hybrid powertrain that boosts the same engine’s output to 250 horsepower. For drivers who want to benefit from all of the XC40’s advantages while also abandoning fuel stations, Volvo also offers the fully electric XC40 Recharge.
